People who come to ADAPT's treatment centres are amongst the most vulnerable in our society. Often their addiction problems reflect other deprivations and circumstances. These can be social, emotional, educational, physical, mental or economic. Frequently they encompass all, each one compounding the other. Coming to one of our centres can help clients break out of a vicious cycle and discover new pathways in life.
Whilst we try to provide a wide range of support services and amenities for people with multiple problems, there is always more that could be done to help them progress with their lives both during and after treatment.
This could mean providing more life-skill and educational training, craft workshops, more assistance with resettlement, advocacy services to help with crippling external problems, more medical equipment, more sports facilities, accommodation for visiting families - the list goes on.
Although most of ADAPT's operations are funded through treatment and service fees, we depend on donations to maintain the work of our treatment centres and develop new projects. Over the years we have benefited from the generous support of a number of trusts, foundations, businesses and individuals, but our needs remain as great as ever.
Through Gift Aid, we can receive almost a third as much again from the Inland Revenue for any donation from a UK taxpayer.
